Ask my characters questions about anything and everything and they will truthfully answer it. So, go ahead and ask what you want. She can't beat around the bush with half-truths.

This is one of the most relevant questions I've been asked in a very long time.

I live with the past every day.

My past. It's shaped me into the person I am today.

But it's the recent past that's shaped me most.

When I first became President, I thought the ancient past would be my ultimate legacy to my people. The ancient past has come up again in recent weeks and months. You can never escape your past.

We'll never escape the sins of having created and misused the Cylons. I think we understand that now, more than ever before.

I don't think the Cylons understand yet that they'll never escape their past that created our present situation. We can live with it. We can even move beyond it. We have been trying to move beyond it. But they'll never escape it, any more than we were able to escape our mistakes.

We can't run from the things we've done. But we can face them and learn from them.

The past steps all over the heels of the present. We've all been touched by it, burned and scorched by it. We've risen from the ashes more times than I can count and we've done it in a million different ways.
